cPanel Tutorial: Installing and Configuring Fantastico
cPanel has shown exciting performance to serve as a preferred
choice among other third-party programs. It has been reckoned as
most empowered script installer around. Fantastico has been
characterized with a strong ability to install multiple scripts from
bulletin boards and blogs to content management system and to
guestbooks.
Fantastico attaches a reputation of ensuring easy installation of
scripts and programs without any professionals’ involvment or
assistance. All these content can be instantly loaded on your site
within no time and you may get benefitted from them as per your
need.
Installation
Once you log into cPanel, an icon of Fantastico program will
appear. Just click on the icon and a new page will open with
“install” tab. You just have to click the tab and it will guide you
for a step by step installation as per the given details:
• Select the desired version of Fantastico that is compatible with
your cPanel
• Customize the theme area as per your own ideas
• See if all the scripts you want to use are “active”
• Let “wget” be your binary path, though you have an option to
change it but it is quiet applicable for most users.
• Select the dedicated drive for storage matters
• Develop Configurations to your CRON notifications. You may use it
for getting notified with completed jobs through e mail.
• Check the daily updates function of Fantastico.
Once you are done with these necessary adjustments, find-out and
click the “install” tab. It may take few minutes to install all the
files. When installation is completed, you may activate Fantastico
in cPanels’’ “Feature Manager”. Now you just have to check box
beside “Fantastico” and choose “Save” to get satrted with the
program.
Getting Started
From the main interface of the cPanel, you just have to click on the icon over the “Fantastico” and it will start. Once it opens, you will have a warm welcome from a separate inteface which will be offering number of options. You may go through the additional tools by scrolling top to bottom on the interface and accessing the “Extra “ menu. Here you can see these: Language, Side menu appearance, full list, drop-down menus, e-mail notifiaction, navigation and installations overviews. You can customize these tools as per your need and start getting fantastic results from your Fantastico installation.
